National Ocean Sciences Bowl

National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB)

Opportunity Description

http://www.nosb.org

The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) is an academic competition for high school students focused on the marine sciences. Through the competition students answer buzzer style questions and participate in team challenge questions that require critical thinking and team work. Teams of 4 to 5 students from across the country compete each year in one of the program's 25 regional competitions. The top team from each region advances to the national Finals Competition, where students vie for the national title, as well as participate in hands-on marine field trips and career events. The top national teams win experiential award trips to international and national marine research facilities. NOSB also sponsors the "Living on the Ocean Planet" video contest, provides scholarships to NOSB alumni pursuing ocean science majors in college, and offers professional development opportunities for STEM educators.
